Anybody know anything about this Scotch?

  1. I have never seen it offered on multiple trips to Scotland and thought I had tasted them all. It is possible that it is a new offer as many distilleries over there have been creating a lot of boutique/niche lots.

That said, a quick search shows it originates from Springbank. Their flagship single malt has always been a delight, I'd be up to sampling if the price is right.

  2. Other than being expensive, I don't know much about it.
    As it's a Campbeltown malt, I'll bet it's smoky, though not Laphroaig-smoky.

  3. Anon, what is that price, then? There is a Scottish pub near me here in Seattle that may well carry this or another of theirs.

  4. Springbank distillers. A different cask is used each year, with Pinot Noir apparently their 2019 release.

  6. A legend in the making since last Tuesday. Now you take a classically matured 8 year old and throw it in Pinot Noir casks for three years and you have an immediate (by scotch standards) marketing flavor of the month. Origianlly there were just two Double Woods, Aberlour and Balvenie. Now everybody is on the two or three cask band wagon.

Try 10 year old Glenmorangie for inexpensive and smooth with a nice floral/citrus finish if you don't like the heavy peat/paint remover taste of say Johnie Walker Red.
