  1. comparing the size to the 40,000 pound flywheel in a Cooper Bessemer horizontal engine, I would venture 50,000 pounds.

  2. That's quite a bull wheel. I wonder if it was set up with a leather drive belt, as many of the steam-driven mills were (it looks like it is).

  3. Here is a collection of photos from the Mesta Machine Co in Pittsburgh from the 1900s to 1920s. Mesta made lots of BIG stuff.
