A good project

  1. I did something like this to make lateral adjustments of motors for precision
shaft alignments. I found a Japanese 1/2" impact socket set at the right
price and bought it. I cut the business ends off, drilled and tapped them
on the side for some all-thread, cut some steel tabs and added adjustment
nuts. After untightening the motor base bolts, you slip the sockets onto
the bolts and the tabs pressed against the motor base.

Most installations in refineries have threaded welded jackscrew tabs but
it sure beats wailing on the motor base with a lead hammer when they don't.

  2. Stupid to leave the barrel in the slide. If you are too lazy to take the barrel out are you too lazy to check to make sure the chamber is empty?

  3. I've had one of those for several years. You must be extremely careful and buffer everywhere the site mover touches the pistol. Preferably with some type of polyurethane. Leather won't cut it in most cases.
