“Japanese Type A midget submarine beached in eastern Oahu, after it unsuccessfully attempted to enter Pearl Harbor during the 7 December 1941 Japanese attack. The photograph was taken on or shortly after 8 December 1941.”

    I wonder if they were thinking along those lines on December 7?

    1. Yamamoto warned them that they were awakening a sleeping dragon, but they proceeded anyway ... thank goodness our carriers were at sea, and the Jap planes left the fuel depot and drydocks mostly undamaged!

  2. That midget submarine, the HA-19 is on exhibit at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas.

      Where else would you look for a midget Japanese submarine beached in Hawaii in WWII, but in Texas?

      Yep; soon as I saw that photo, I reckoned: must be in Texas, Shirley!
