Métis were the offspring of two cultures. The French and the Indians. These métis were generally the children of French trappers / traders and the Ojibway. Métis were proficient hunters whether they were on the High Plains hunting buffalo or antelope or in the deep woodlands and lakes hunting for game found there. The métis usually adopted dress from both cultures, lived in log cabins and were able to read and write.
