Farmer digs up mammoth skeleton in a Michigan soy bean field.

It further appears the skeleton was disarticulated by early humans, and weighted down to sink in a pond.  Scientists speculate that they did that to store the meat for later (although it would have to be really cold water to do that).

I dunno about you, but I'm up for a big juicy mammoth burger!

  2. Dozens of specimens were also found in So. Cal. during construction of the Diamond Valley reservoir. Some have been mounted and are on display at the Visitor center museum. Fascinating.

    1. They're surprisingly common. Lots and lots of them dug up every year in Russia.
