A list of unidentified underwater sounds

Some of these sound quite creepy and loud, like this one:

Julia is a sound recorded on March 1, 1999 by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NOAA said the source of the sound was most likely a large iceberg that had run aground off Antarctica.[1] It was sufficiently loud to be heard over the entire Equatorial Pacific Ocean autonomous hydrophone array. The unidentified sound lasted for about 15 seconds. Due to the uncertainty of the arrival azimuth, the point of origin could be between Bransfield Straits and Cape Adare

  1. I think that it was simply an alien mother ship settling under the waves. That's apparently how they sound.

  2. Nope and nope, that's the left front wheel bearing going bad on a 1973 IH 1210 Series 3/4 ton pickup.

  3. I was a submarine sonar tech. and training tape we listened to offer many steange, unidentified sounds for familiarization. While underway, I and others heard many very strange things not attributable to man made processes.
google "Boing fish", or "Pacific ocean screamer". There are many things in the oceans we have no explanation for.
