  2. what we are seeing here is a fire place which was ineffective at containing the fire in the harth? or what was left after the cabin was salvaged for mine shaft timbers...

  4. There's one similar to that a few miles from my home. It sits at one end of a rather small piece of property and according to one of the elder members of the local church, the home - while it still stood - was the home of a prominent local businessman was was sympathetic to the rebel cause during the revolution. Once the Red coats discovered he was aiding the local rebels, they burnt it to the ground and publicly hanged him.
