Whoops!

The collapsed section of the wall fell after several days of rain in Dai county in Shanxi province and is adjacent to the historically important Yamen Pass.

The Yanmen Pass, built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), sits in the Yanmen Mountains, 20 kilometers north of Dai county. It is historically an important pass of the Great Wall, admired for its grandeur. The collapsed section is in the north of the Yanmen Pass.

Separately, a report on WeChat claimed that another construction site along the Great Wall, by the Yellow River, also collapsed due to the rainfall in recent days.

Critics blamed modern renovation projects at various sites along the wall, which have marred the historical integrity of the monument and, in some cases, physically weakened it.

Looks like their quality of work isn't quite up to expectations. It's not like it's unexpected that it will rain on the wall.

This is interesting.

A wider viewpoint on this over at Bayou Renaissance Man is the source and well worth a read.

The Sikorsky S-97 Raider is a proposed high-speed scout and attack compound helicopter based on the Advancing Blade Concept (ABC), under development by Sikorsky Aircraft. Sikorsky planned to offer it for the United States Army's Armed Aerial Scout program, along with other possible uses.

Looks like the proof of concept is well along in development.  Really cool stuff.

Is that....the weekend at the end of the tunnel?

This is amazing. A little long, but worth it.

Your Good News of the Day: Jobs/Economy Booming

The great American jobs machine stamped out 219,000 private payroll jobs in July, according to a private survey conducted by Moody’s Analytics and payroll processor ADP.

This suggests that the economy continues to expand and that employers were able to find workers despite very low unemployment. Economists had expected just 185,000 new jobs.

“The Job market is booming, impacted by the deficit-financed tax cuts and increases in government spending,” said Moody’s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi.
Hiring was strongest at medium sized businesses, which added 119,000 jobs. Larger businesses grew jobs by 48,000. Small businesses, employing less than 50 people, hired 52,000.
Manufacturing, education, health care , hotels, and restaurants led the July hiring boom. Manufacturing added 23,000 jobs and construction 17,000. Information technology shed 1,000 jobs.
And if that wasn't good enough, June’s reading was revised up to 181,000 new jobs.

But the elites sent their message loud and clear. Resist us and we'll use the full power of the state to steal your liberty.

Shave of the Day

Two passes, smooth shave, no nicks.

Jackasses. Typical of modern leftist politics.

RNC sources tell The Daily Caller that they were “stunned” when Democrats abruptly pulled out of the good-natured game between leadership and staffers at opposing political organizations.

The game was an opportunity to put aside the partisan bickering and come together in friendly competition. The decade-old tradition typically ended in staffers having a drink at a nearby bar.

RNC sources familiar with the decision said the DNC told them that “all our players are out in the field this year. We won’t be able to play.”

Or, they are just skeered that some crazy will take a shot at them.

There's something about this photo that's highly appealing.

Now that's a righteous soaking set up!
