So it is. Hahahaha! No one caught that all along the way to publication. Amazing.

  1. Louvre probably wanted too much in licensing fees for the correct image.

  2. The book title is NOT referencing Mona Lisa. According to everywhere, it's about a 10-year old girl named Mona. Mike Coté is a stupid twat who could have spent 14 seconds double-checking to save himself some embarrassment.

    1. Ok, sure, but what does the Vermeer painting have to do with it and why have that on the cover? I think that is the point being made, not asserting that the book is about Mona Lisa.

    2. Wow, perhaps Mr Cote’ is a comedian. Take breath Jonesy and smell the flowers.

    3. Cote's point was exactly that it was about the Mona Lisa, but had the a different painting on the cover.

Cote isn't a comedian. He's an establishment political writer.

He gets extra pummeled because he was trying to say how stupid people are, while himself demonstrating his own stupidity. Pride comes before the pounding.

  3. Dude, Mona was a very popular chick’s name in 15th and 16th century Europe. Sorta like Jane or Muffy today.

  4. And a popular moniker for some women, as in , "She's hot to trot and a Mona too."

  5. And now only that,... half of those books were printed with the words upside down. Sheesh.

  6. The Character Mona has been diagnosed with potential blindness. Her grandfather takes to Paris Museums once a week for 52 week to see and discuss great works of art. Commit them to memory before she potentially loses her sight. Mona’s Eyes are the characters eyes, not anyone is a painting.

All the information in the world at your fingertips, but no ability to use it. : - (

    1. Thank you for that; the wife is in a book club and the plot outlined will be appealing to her group.

  7. If Mr. Coté had bothered to pick up the book and read the description on the back cover, he wouldn't have had go to all the trouble of getting his phone out, taking a picture, opening up is "let me be a little outraged" app and uploading the pic while texting out his miffery. And, ironically, the Vermeer never called it "Girl with the Pearl Earring" and Da Vinci never called his painting "Mona Lisa". And if you ever hear/read a reference to "the Mona Lisa of the North", that is a reference to Vermeer's painting.

  8. IQ is a measure of one's ABILITY to learn, not what one has learned. That is why it can be measured in a 6 year old and a 40 year old. What we are witnessing is FAR WORSE. This is the complete lack of INTEREST in learning, getting things correct, etc.

  9. Yeah, yeah. But no one seems to question the original statement.

  10. It's one of those things that makes you pick up the book. At least that's how it worked on me in Barnes and Noble. It was not a mistake--it's an eye catcher.
