And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
There is a ton of Christian symbology there. Michael is an archangel mentioned in the biblical books of Daniel, Jude, and Revelation. The serpent he stands on is a symbol of Satan or demons. Because of his stand against all evil, he is known as a patron of emergency service personnel, police and military. ...Yeah ... so weird that he would be depicted in the Abbey that bears his name. LOL There are actually seven very famous structures or sites bearing his name around the world. He is not worshipped, nor is he an idol, but he IS a reality of Heavenly intervention.

Those people and their dang idols. Seems so weird to have those statues around.
