  2. very thin soles - you can step on a dime and tell if it's heads or tails
i found them uncomfortable and distracting - besides, when it gets to that level I'd rather go barefoot

    1. I grew up in the south. Barefoot was how we rolled. Save wearing out your shoes for Church, school and working

  3. Church shoes when they were new. School shoes after and once they got too worn the lyrics were work shoes you could get muddy and stuff in the garden or mowing lawns. Green and brown maybe some black. We had camo shoes before it was fashionable

  4. They're kind of nice looking, but I can't see them without remembering the XKCD cartoon. I guess it resonated because my brain just won't say, "let's try on a pair."

  5. Do they come in different toe lengths, asking for a simian friend?

  6. Many years ago, I purchased a pair of the "toe shoes" and what I got was a pretty serious case of athlete's foot. Since they are waterproof, they also do not breathe.

  8. They look like the shoes Japanese carpenters used to wear in the 1970s. Handy for holding wood while they cut it with a hand saw. They were building a counter for us. The craftsmanship was impressive.

I saw a picture in Stars and Stripes of the whole building being torn down in the early 2000s.

    1. It is my understanding that those Japanese cloth slippers are split between the big toe and the next one in order to wear gaita and flip-flops.
