And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? "From 1948 to 1990, Arnold Odermatt worked as the official police photographer in the Swiss canton of Nidwalden, recording images of car crashes to augment written accident reports. Odermatt also shot separate images of these scenes to satisfy his aesthetic interests, and his son discovered these photographs after he retired. The photographs have received acclaim for their formal properties and documentary-like quality in charting the rise and perils of car culture in Switzerland during the mid- to late-20th century."

The Photographer Arnold Odermatt is worth a second look: https://www.galeriespringer.de/category/artists-of-the-gallery/odermatt-arnold/
