And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Almost certainly a refinished Les Paul. Since the maple top sides are not book-matched, it was originally in a non-transparent finish rather than a burst-type transparent finish. If the black purfling is original, I imagine that the original color was on the light side since that kind of contrast is typical. Same with the pickup surrounds, although that’s a replaceable part that doesn’t mean that much. Looks to be a nice satin finish. Of course, refinishing such a nice instrument removes any collectible value, if that’s what you like, then ok. I have a 1965 Fender Precision that was originally in Olympic White that I refinished in a natural wood color back in 1973. It looks a bit like the bass that John Deacon used in the 1970s and 80s. It does, however need new frets.
A guitar built like a violin! VERY nice!

DeleteBeautiful instrument. You may, of course, send it in care of me, to my address!
