And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Oaxaca Old Fashioned, Applejack Old Fashioned and an Elder Old Fashioned. Anybody want to help me drink these?
I make an old fashioned with Bourbon, Rivulet pecan liqueur, Cointreau (actually a Costco copy), and some orange bitters, but the Oaxaca sounds interesting. Recipes???
Yours sounds good. Oaxaca: 1 1/2 oz. Tequila, 1/2 oz Mescal, one or two bar spoons agave nectar, 1 or two dashes Angostura. Orange peel. Stir in rocks glass, add giant ice cube. Sit back and sip, while watching the evening set in.
Congrats man! The Lord Himself has taken cigarettes from me and gradually is removing alcohol. I credit Him alone as I have never been successful, but now, the want or desire is almost nonexistent though I love the taste of whiskey, beer…have not had a drop of whiskey in over a year, might have 4-5 beers in a month. Some wine with dinner is where I’m at and even then- it fading away. Not missing any of it…though I do still live the taste of all of it. Paradoxical!
Continued…I have lots of bottles in my bar but they have no draw on me. I see them all day long and nothing. Fine bottles. Expensive bottles- about 3 dozen. Just decor…praise the Lord- that’s my story and I swear by it. Several of my favorite bottles sit unopened- still sealed.
I will pass on the Old Fashioned mixer but a bit of Applejack over ice would work.
I had a woman in my Air Guard unit had an apple orchard in the north GA mountains. Her husband would make a 110 proof applejack. It would make you stupid.
Might be interesting tastes but look like headaches and hangovers to me.
ReplyDeleteSorry. Not interested in anything with the term 'Oaxaca' in it. I'm funny that way.
ReplyDeleteJust give me a shot of any Kentucky Sour Mash and I'll swill it with you, be it on a rock or straight up.
Recipes???

DeleteOaxaca!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds great. We can sit on the porch and watch the sun set over Mt. Shasta while getting dithered...
ReplyDeleteI had to look up Oaxaca Old Fashion recipe. Yuck!!! Worst Tequila drink I ever had was a Mexican Death Wish
ReplyDeleteI hope that you truly enjoy your libations.
ReplyDeleteAfter nearly 40 years of overindulgence, I gave up booze about 14 years ago.

DeleteSuggestion: Give or throw away any and all liquor in your home. Unless you entertain a lot, there really is no reason to keep them.
Delete"What could go wrong with an old fashioned?"

First thing I thought of.
DeleteBut I'm old.
