I learned in the 70's, was a teenager, learned to cut gemstones, at the time the Newery find happened, thats Newery Maine, they hit a pretty big walk in size Vug of tourmaline, stunning material came out of that, there was even a candelabra if parrot wing green with rubellite tips where wicks where.

    Many years ago, in the Maryland suburbs of D.C. I found a bunch of rocks, so I thought, in a hillside that were actually ancient oysters long buried so that they were preserved in an anaerobic situation. When cracked open the inner parts were small crystalline vugs. Wish I still had some of those pieces, but many moves - Air Force brat - and they got lost. Poop...
