And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Working outside I heard an unmistakable sound. It took me a bit to realize I had seen a Lancaster pass overhead. My next thought, What's it doing in California?
I had seen an F-4 parked next to a B-17. The Phantom cockpit was higher up than that of the -17. It gave me a new appreciation of the scale of that ship, the Fortress, and the men who went to war in it.
B17 and a Lancaster?
