And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Partially restored a '56 Pearl Gray 190SL convertible in the early '80s. No MPH, KM. Choke to start (1 BBL Bosch) & fuel mix control. When I'd go from 1,000' to 3,500' up into the NC Mtns, you had to pull it out to lean the fuel/air mix when it started to miss. Great car, had to sell it when we bought a larger house in '85.
My Uncle Sweetheart (his real name was Vinnie) took my brother and I for a ride in his 300SL. He never drove it over 50 mph. This was back in the mid-sixties. He also had an early '50s Ford wagon. That's what he used to go to his family's ranch in the mountains east of San Diego. He let us boys plink tin cans with a 22.
It's funny the things you can remember that happened 60+ years ago. I'll bet my remembering those times would put a smile on Uncle Sweetheart's face.
friend's dad had a daimler, he'd load us in it for an after dinner spin at speed thru Kirtland Hills, Ohio- moneyed community with perfect asphalt roads, ess turns, off camber turns, etc. and one old cop. later, us boys would impromptu race vw bugs, a couple corvairs at night there. what great fun.
Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. The steering wheel folds forward at the top so you can slide your legs in. A few million and this can be yours.

For the same price I’d take a 190 convertible and keep the change.
