The Bananas, or the Nanners as devotees call them, sold out Clemson University’s Memorial Stadium back in April, with 81,000 in attendance.
81k is impressive.
Tickets for a couple of Nanner games at Yankee Stadium in September are selling on secondary sites at rates significantly higher than any Yankees game.
The rules make it entertaining but some of the antics are a little over the top
ReplyDeleteYeah, they do some silly stunts....
DeleteRules: Batter can take second base after a walk, and the defense can't tag him out unless five players have touched the ball.....
It is the dumbest thing I ever saw, and I'm not exactly young. I caught it waiting on a college super regional baseball game. It's the Three Stooges play baseball.
ReplyDeletePlease, tell us how you really feel about the subject.
DeleteNext you'll tell us you prefer Shemp over Curly. :-)
DeleteThey have sold out every game for the past 7 seasons, both at home and on the road. I will see them play the Firefighters at Fenway tomorrow. I flew from Savannah to Boston with 2 of the Firefighter pitchers yesterday. It is a show that loosely incorporates some of baseball. There are no strikeouts, the ball will be put into play, a ball pitched that hits the ground the hitter must make a mad dash for first, no bunting, if a fan catches a foul ball the hitter is out, and so on. It is a bit choregraphed but the hits and plays are not. It is a fun time.
ReplyDeleteBanana ball is taking a boring sport and making it interesting to watch.
ReplyDeleteThat's a stupid statement. You're boring.
DeleteI love it. Great diversion league.
ReplyDeletei think they sell more tickets than the Atlanta Braves.
