"Open the door, Hal."

  1. One would think that with a film of such visual brilliance, the producers would have budgeted a little more for something better than a colored pencil rendition?

  2. Like the movie Fantasia, this movie is best seen on the big screen. A small television screen just doesn't do it justice, not even a 60-inch screen

  4. One of the movies/TV shows which popularized a particular piece of classical music:

2001: Sunrise from Also sprach Zarathustra. The Blue Danube was well known to the public before this movie.
    Ordinary People: Pachelbel's Canon
The Lone Ranger: if you have to be told, you're hopeless.
The Huntley–Brinkley Report: second movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony.

  6. I took my girlfriend to see the IMAX re-release a few years ago...I was captivated and spellbound by the film. She, on the other hand swore never to see another movie with me ever again...

  7. A lot of countries insist on making their own movie posters “so the public can relate, culturally” this seems odd though, being in English. Look up the polish posters to see some wild examples.

  9. Took my wife to see Alien in the late 70's?. Told me she would NEVER go to
another movie with me again. Married 56 years and she still hasn't been to a
movie with me. Guess I can count that a positive as I've never had to watch a chic
    flick.

  10. Great film with excellent and realistic special effects. The sequel, 2010, was easier to understand but also excellent. It explains why HAL went rogue (it was the govt's fault).
