  2. Many wartime "Rosie the Riveter" photos were posed (I think that photo and many like it can be found on a Library of Congress website). I doubt that aircraft insignia were hand-painted - they were probably done with stencils that standardized the size and layout of the insignias. Also, if the girl in the photo is freshly painting the blue disc, why is her left forearm lying in the blue disc along with that the paint can resting on the blue paint? (!)
