And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Don't get me wrong, had a Multistrada 1000 back in the day, and the power of that engine was magical, but traded it shortly after the engine was done with its break-in.
Good news is that on newer ducatis the valve job interval has lengthened. The bad news is that it still requires practically disassembling the entire bike to get to the valves.
You should see how many times you have to rotate the top bevel gear on the cam to line up with the pinion gear, easy to miss buy one tooth. Get it lined up those engines put out respectable power. Raced one in a vintage class, they are tiny bikes, go like stink once you get a feel how the handle, you keep your corner speed up and it really boosts the straight away times. Keep your RPM's below red line they are very reliable, and a little bit of short shifting at a good rpm they go pretty good, their torque curve is respectable too. Just got to stay in it. The brakes..., um, what brakes? Huh? I reef on the right hand lever and nothing seems to happen! (actually, there is a lot of engine braking if your running high compression pistons)
