  3. Looks like a display to scare people from drunk driving. Had a few of those in high school, they would park the trashed car right out front of the school. Worked on me.

  5. Given the style and layout if its surroundings, I'm concluding it's art.

    1. You might think this driver was untalented, but he did manage to get pole position.

    2. Euro artist did a display of car-wrapped poles. This spot seems to have no damage to the lawn and surrounding fencing.

  7. Looks like a set up or that car was tossed at that pole at somewhere near Mach 3

  8. A couple of mechanics at a Ford dealer up the street from where I worked decided to have a race after work. One in his own Mustang (which was a classic) the other in a customers Mustang. The customers car ended up looking about like the car in this picture, the mechanics body lay in the gutter for about four hours before the corner arrived.

  10. Seen similar in real life, Camaro wrapped around a tree, killed the backseat passenger, driver essentially unhurt. The car was practically cut in two.

  11. If that car hit that pole there's no way that windshield stayed with the car.

  12. There is a NHTSA requirement now for side impact into a pole. Early results look the above picture.

  13. Last hit like that, that I inspected, was a Honda Del Sole. Driver hit a big light pole centered on her door. Maybe a two ft diameter pole. She took down a ~60 ft tall pole while spinning, bounced the passenger side off a sound wall, and bounced back onto the freeway shoulder, without dipping into the deep ravine that bordered the wall. Other drivers estimated her speed as at least 100mph. I got to the driver's side at the same time as the FD crew got to the other side. I could tell she was DRT by the lack of movement by them. The pole shaped divot extended to the center of the small car, and I was unable to see anything beyond the top of her head. Saw lots of single car crashes at that location.
