  1. Been there. Interesting story about what Temple bar actually refers to, and it ain't the pub.

  2. I was a resident of the Emerald Isle years ago. The Temple Bar area of Dublin has turned into a loud neon lighted tourist trap where the prices are high and the streets are rough. No area of the country is like when I knew it 50 years ago, but if ya want to see what little there is left of the ireland I knew stick to the West.

    2. I have been to Eire five times over the last 40 years. The first time was in 1983 while stationed in Germany the last time was it 2017 when I took my wife and kids for a year stay on the West Coast. I have to agree. Dublin was becoming just another diluted urban crap hole like the rest of Europe’s Mainland. We had to look high and low for someone who actually spoke with an Irish brogue, and not a Middle Eastern or eastern European accent. but all in all the year on the West Coast to county mayo was grand.
