And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Very nice photos of 'The Good Old Days' in a beautiful river canyon in the upper Sierra foothills. Back when you could find a spot to be all by yourself.
Is Bruce's Crossing near the hunting camp orchard?
That someone was me, and it was measured right there on the spot. Biggest fish we ever pulled out of the Moke, and of course it was a carniverous old Brown.
Back in 2015, we were driving south on Hwy 49 and crossed the Mokelumne just as the Butte Fire jumped the river from Amador to Calaveras. We were working in Sacramento, driving from Tuolumne City, and watched it grow week by week. Later, driving through San Andreas, we could see flames on the ridge behind the high school. Those fire fighters worked hard. Thank you for the pictures from home; we are working in Liberia West Africa. now.

Yes, downstream.
DeleteMagical times. I'm surprised the river looks that good, since it was right in the middle of those extremely dry years of '76-'77.
DeleteI would love to go back to that time and place. The world was much simpler.
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to get a ruler out. Look at the photos and then compare the fish to the reference objects.
