Good thing this isn't for sale in my part of the country. I might not be able to resist.

  1. Sold at auction, 2016. I wonder what it went for.

It's a pretty rare truck, in any condition.

  3. Love the paint (and the wheels), a lot of times they go with the patina look.

    1. The link I posted above explains:
"PPG Delstar Acrylic enamel factory date coded Chrome Yellow paint".

I'm not sure if that means it was a stock Ford color from 1952 or if it means it was a standard Ford color later on. My brother had a 1976 Ford F-250 that he bought new that was a very similar shade of yellow.

    2. You can buy the correct colour for just about any car. It looks like Chrome Yellow was a 1951 Ford colour but was dropped for 1952.

    3. That link is great. Thank you.
I had no idea the factory had colors like that way back when.

  4. Back in 1978 my dad's best friend bought a rust free 52 F1 that was missing the engine and transmission for his son's 15th birthday. They dropped a 5.0L crate engine and a TKO 5-speed in it then rewired it. Replaced the suspension, steering, and brake system all within 6 months. The kid drove it all through high school, collage, and law school. After 11 years it was put into semi-retirement where it was maintained just enough to keep it running. About 8 years ago he shipped it off for a restoration. It got a new frame with a modern suspension and disk brakes. The body was bead blasted and all defects were repaired. A new bed was fabricated with a red oak bed. All the chrome was re-chromed in black chrome. Power steering, Automatic overdrive transmission, and AC were added with a new interior. The truck was painted bright red where Black chrome and red wheels finished it out. He takes to a couple of shows and has a rubber mat that he will throw in the bed when he uses it as a truck. It is a fair weather driver for him now.

  5. Instead of spending money on an old truck, all those dollars could have been used to save horses. Please donate at savethestupidhorses.org.
