And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
There is one thing missing in all of this if you look very close. Better yet, watch some old beach movies like Beach Blanket Bingo, How to Stuff a Wild Bikini or Ride the Wild Surf. No demographic intruders that today demand a constant police presence. The good old days indeed.
Top picture is Old Man’s at San Onofre, one of the original SoCal surf spots. We make a pilgrimage there each. Lucky guy in the bad pants is Aussie Nat Young, World Champ in the mid-60’s.
A lot of early vans in that top photo. The early 60's Ford van next to the Falcon (probably A Falcon, I had a Mercury wagon just like that) station wagon. Down the row a bit is a Corvair Greenbrier van. The split window VW bus may have the small back window, may not but in that picture I'd guess it's another early 60s van.
Looks like Wind & Sea.

I would be smiling too with a 6 to 1 ratio!
ReplyDeleteThen those same surf bunnies got elected and banned allowing vehicles on the beaches.
