And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
They like to stand on fenceposts near open fields and wait for lunch to pop up.
One day when I was riding fence line at the ranch there was a Kestrel on a post and as I approached he took off, flew 5 or 6 posts down and then lit again. As I putted closer to him he'd let me get about two posts away and then he'd take off again. We played this game for about a quarter of a mile until he got tired of my B.S. and circled back around me and landed on a post near the first one I'd seen him on.
Those vertical dark stripes make then easy to identify in the field.
Bloody beak…
ReplyDeleteGreat photo!

I like to see their impalement leftovers.
