    2. There's a picture I've seen out there a lot of times of a B-24 that either slid out of it's place in formation, or the plane above it did, and took a bomb right through the wing root, snapping it off an sending it down.

      No easy days in the 8th AF.

  4. Zoom in and look closely at the #1 prop. It is feathered, so the engine is out, which would explain the loss of altitude. Hopefully once it dropped it's bomb load it rejoined the formation.

  5. My Dad stood just behind the port wing, swinging around a .50 M2 from the waist. He was in Big Week, flew on Disney bunker Buster missions, protected the Norden bomb sight that was installed. A complete tour, before he was 20. Thank you P-51’s for keeping him mostly safe and sound.
