And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The area that the stove is heating cannot be determined by this photo so there could just as easily be not enough flame here. But if that pillow isn't fireproof, it's too close and those curtains are iffy.
Had a buddy with one of those dang chihuahuas, that thing would curl right up directly under the woodstove, even when it was glowing cherry red. I don't see how it didn't cook itself.
I read an analysis of those stove-top fans that concluded they're a waste of money. Any time you have such a strong heat source in a room, the natural convective current does far more than the fan.
Nice. I'd pick a different color scheme, but otherwise I've got no complaints:-).
ReplyDeleteStoves too high. Should be as low as possible for the obvious reasons

Telephoto lens flattens depth of field. Look at the hearth stone. Stove is actually a couple feet forward of the curtains.
DeleteI'd curl up with the dog and sleep like a puppy. I've done it before and I'll do it again.
ReplyDeleteYou know it man, I'd roll my bag right out on the floor in front of the mutt and stove.

ReplyDeleteMaybe the height puts the radiative heat at the level of a nice recliner or sofa.
ReplyDeleteHowever it's a good idea to have a foot or so of fireproof hearth in front of a stove, especially when there's no shelf under the stove door.
You don't want ashes or cinders of live coals falling onto that nice hardwood floor.

ReplyDeleteI like the log heater. Perfect for my future work shop.

My sister bought one of those Dwarf stoves for her little shop. The enamel door was a few hundred dollar upgrade if I remember. She loves it.
