  3. Was near a tree that got hit, was like a stick of dynamite went off. Blew the bark off but didn't catch fire.

  5. My most vivid memory as a Boy Scout was being in a rainstorm under a tent at night looking out with two companions as lightening struck a tree not far from us. The bolt seemed to be yards across, was bright white, sparks flew everywhere, the noise was deafening, and the destroyed tree smoldered for hours and hours. No one, thank the Lord, was injured in our troop, but some of the tents suffered damage from falling debris. The intrepid scout master was not in a tent as he was sleeping in his car. This happened seventy or so years ago but to me it was as if yesterday.

  6. "had" a cottonwood in the back yard. the second time it got hit, a large limb exploded and that became the beginning of the end for it. scared the shit out of my 10 year old kid.
