And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I'll tell you a true story I got from someone who was there and bear in mind that this was just before digital photography became common. Kim was visiting some very sick kids in a pediatric oncology unit at a hospital in Atlanta and one little girl who was terminal wanted a picture with Kim. Nobody had a Polaroid camera and some member of her entourage was complaining that they didn't have time to get one. Kim said "then I guess we'll just have to wait" then sent the guy to go get a polaroid and some film, kicked everyone else out of the room, and sat there visiting with the kid till somebody got the camera. I've heard and read a lot of things about Kim Basinger over the years but she's a good person.
How the hell such a pretty woman and beautiful soul could have ever married a total douche like Alec Baldwin is beyond me. But for the record 91/2 weeks still gets my heart rate accelerated. She can leave her hat on.
Two days ago I went to the library and checked out that movie, it had been a long time since I'd seen "L.A. Confidential".
