Days, and burgers, of Old. I wonder how a Whopper of that era would compare to a modern Whopper?

  3. Old BK, bigger, more meat, and vine-grown tomatoes instead of GMO stuff in today's burger.

  5. >>What did the original Whopper have on it?
In 1957, Burger King released its signature burger, the Whopper, which is still around today. The Whopper was 37 cents compared to Burger King's original burger, which cost 18 cents. The Whopper came with sauce, cheese, lettuce, pickles, and tomato, all piled on top of a larger patty.<<

  7. There used to be so much toppings on the thing we called them Sloppers. Then they got smart/cheap and came out with Have It Your Way… not telling anyone that you had to pay more to get the amount of toppings they used to include for free. And they shrunk the patty too , or went to higher fat burger, which renders out to less too. Downsizing sucks, since the 70s.

  9. Burger King used to flame broil the burgers right in the store; now they're precooked and frozen, heated in a microwave.

    Anyone remember the Yumbo?

    1. Ate alot of Yumbos back in '76/'77 when I lived outside of Philly, PA. Not many folks remember the Yumbo when I ask about it.

  10. Not in any Burger King I have ever eaten in. If they were cooked in a microwave you would not smell them 4 blocks away.........

  11. It was common in my youth to order a Whopper "cut in half".

  12. As BK moved away from flame broiled to microwaved, the local nickname became "Nuke & Puke."

  14. BK like many other burger places have gone extremely cheap in the beef dept, taste like soy or oatmeal added to the burgers. Precooked, frozen and left in water to keep warm. No longer can you smell the meat cooking just the oil for fries that is so rancid you can taste it in the food.

  15. My sis was born in early 50 and her first job at a restaurant was a BK. I was born in late 57. My brother was born in early 52. So when my sis started working at BK we would eat there to get thing cheap.
