And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Last time I was in Audley House (Purdey's store/factory/premises) those were going for 100,000 pounds each before VAT. London best at London best prices. Plan to wait three to five years for yours. Also the best engravers are already booked for the rest of their lifetimes. Just hope you get your fowling piece before they die.
I was fortunate to get to participate in a duck hunt in coastal SC. There are many 'plantations' in that area that are owned by very wealthy yankees who use them as tax shelters and hunting playgrounds. The guy that invited me to the hunt pointed out one such yankee - a true billionaire he said, whom he also invited to the hunt how brought a 'boy' with him instead of a dog to retrieve his ducks.
"See that guy's gun?" he asked me..."it's worth more than your house." It looked like those in the picture. Seemed to be handy with it too, as he limited out before anyone else. His boy collected his ducks and off he went.
Wood shrinks and expands with moisture content. These guns could be over be a century old and may have been exposed to high humidity for extended periods. Al_in_Ottawa
