And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I still watch the old ones on Pluto TV's Dr. Who Classic channel. Never could warm up to most of the newer ones, but they weren't bad until they got woke with, as grayjohn calls her, Nurse Who. I prefer to call her Dr. Hooters even though there isn't much there....
I too used to watch the old ones back in the early 80's. Tried to watch the new stuff and it just didn't click with me. The old ones with that Tom somebody. Had him a cute little strumpet for a sidekick. Pluto TV eh? I'll have to look that up.
Pluto is a free station that's almost like a cable system. There are multiple channels within it. It's available on Roku, computer and other streaming devices.....
Hi Ghost, I've been an avid Who fan since the William Hartnell days, but my absolute favourite has to be Tom Baker. But which one do you class as the "cute little strumpet"? Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith), Louise Jameson (Leela), Mary Tamm and Lalla Ward (Romana), Janet Fielding (Tegan Jovanka) or Sarah Sutton (Nyssa of Traken)
As for the later series, IMHO everything from Christopher Eccleston to Matt Smith have been acceptable but from then on, it went downhill rapidly culminating in as grayjohn calls her, Nurse Who.
To tell you the truth Mr Jimbo, it's been close to 40 years since I watched that stuff so I'm not sure. I did do googles on all the names you mentioned and I believe it was the first one that smittened me, Elisabeth Sladen. I see she died in 2011 at age 65.
I liked a lot of the Doctor's companions through the decades, but Sarah Jane is still my favorite. One of the saddest days of the series is when he dropped her back on earth......
Never liked Nurse Who.
