And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Tends to be a bit of a shock when you see a sports car spin to the inside of a corner. Saw this often on the street. Not fun when riding a sport bike and seeing this coming at you!
1. Race cars are very, very light, they make them that way on purpose and everything.
2. Big fucking tree trunks don't fucking move much when they're struck by something as insubstantial as a fairly slow moving rally car especially down at the base. Cars and trucks hit trees all the time and the base of the trunks never move, EVER.
3. If you might pay attention, you'll see that the upper portion of tree shakes quite a bit upon impact.
4. What on earth does his radio or the tape have to do with anything?
The people that watch those races on the outside of turns are absolute fools.

DeleteLooks like a movie stunt scene. Notice his radio and the tape.
ReplyDeleteOfficial race course corner worker at his station. I'm guessing you haven't spent time at a road course type race track.
DeleteHe moved pretty quick for someone with about 3 pounds of wet shit in his skivvies.
ReplyDeleteP&L has a good point. I think if that was a real car with real car weight the inertia from it would have done much more damage upon hitting the tree.

Might have chipped the bark a bit, that's about the worst that I've ever seen. BT;DT (drove a rescue tow truck for a few years also)
DeleteAfter watching numerous motorcycle races first hand.....I NEVER watched from the outside of the curve.
ReplyDeleteWHO TF would stand on the outside of a corner..
ReplyDeleteThat would be more than enough to make me into a confirmed tree-hugger!
ReplyDeleteIt saved his ass, not to mention his life!
