And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The photo-shop deletion of the towing vehicle (and you can still see the attachment to the tail wheel) is evident. As has been observed, the car in the background suggests 1960's or thereabouts. So it's a relic; and being moved somewhere.
It landed at Portland, Oregon Airport and was being towed to Milwaukie, Oregon to be used at a gas station there what use to be called Bomber Gas. I don't know if it is still there as I left Western Oregon in 2000 and haven't been back to that cesspool. That was over the I5 bridges over the Williamette River.
The gas station was started in 1947 and is located off of McLaughlin Blvd. It is no longer there, the plane was taken to Salem, Oregon for restoration.
B&W photo. Assumed wartime Europe but that car in the distance says....NO!

ReplyDeleteYeah the circular edits near the tail and the shadow of the tow rope and vehicle are pretty ham-fistedly obvious.
DeleteBut the pilot's grandson went to work for Continental Airlines, and landed a 757 on a taxiway. ;)
