The Narrows, Zion National Park, Utah

A fine way to get your feet wet

  1. I hiked the length of the narrows a bit over fifty years ago. We were told then that someone had counted the stream crossings and totaled it up at about 220. They recommended we not wear our best shoes/boots.

  2. 'Stream crossings'--it depends on how high the Virgin River is. At times, there aren't that many crossings. You are mostly just hiking in very cold water. One of the great hikes in our National Parks.

  3. It's a great way to spend a week in the summer. A Sherm said (above), don't wear your good shoes. And maybe pack a spare, second set. But a great hike all the same. You ought to do it with the LT if he has the time.

  4. My favorite part of Zion is Angels' Landing.
