Classic setup

  1. I used to live in a town that had a major college in it. A friend and I used to dumpster dive around apartments when students were graduating. You would be suprised the good stuff we found. Made a load of spare cash during those times. But to the point, one time we found an Akai reel to reel played and two boxes of (80) tapes. Classical, jazz, some classic rock. Took it home, plugged it in, and it worked perfectly for years.

  2. I see a Sansui. I learned that if you see Sansui, somebody got excellent advice. If you see 2 Sansui, the owner is an electronics tech

I found a pawnshop way up north in Salt Lake City swimming in superb '70s stereo gear. owner knows what he has and what it's worth and won't bend a nickel on the price. I blame eBay for that.

  3. my roomate in Newport going to department head school had a reel to reel machine he bought when he was stationed on the Warden in Japan and PI. The girls from Salve Regina said we had the best music they ever heard.$8000 of stereo equipment.

  6. Beautiful! I still like my 70's era equipment. I only have two channels but the sound is wonderful.

  7. Of all the wonderful everythings on this site (feasts, cabins, cars, open roads), why this has made it straight to my olfactory? The smell is musty-yet-polished wood with delicate metallic hints, and a slight petrol, all while entering a public library. What? There's probably more of these items in the rest of the room.
