Bandsaw hitting a nail from r/interestingasfuck

  1. It hit the nail at about 3 seconds in, I don't know what it hit at the end but it was beyond nail.

  2. On second look, the blade guide failed and the whole thing took a left and hit the feed chain.

  3. Tree huggers have been known to drive rail road spikes into trees after they have been marked for harvest. That's not from a nail that's from a spike.

  4. I'd say Matthew got it right. You can watch the cut move towards the center after that first little spark. The big shower is the band hitting the drive.

  5. What moron doesn't use a metal detector on the process leading to the cutting? The savings in time, money, and new cutting bands, or blades, is well worth a decent moment of prevention.
Might as well drive full throttle with your eyes closed.

  6. That wasn't too o bad. A high-speed saw on 8 foot wheels with 40,000lb pressure will explode the blade into some damned scary scrapnel. With teeth. Been there, ran from that.
