  2. Holy Ka-Ka! That's my 71 Mustang MACH-I that I bought new for $3,800 to sooth my feelings after my wife divorced me.

    1. 1971 the billboard going into Rohnert Park CA had houses for sale for around $18,000 ... as I recall...

  3. Had a '71 Mach 1 for a few years. Box stock, got 5 mpg around town, 10 mpg on the freeway. No markings, just functional Ram Air hood scoops and dual exhaust to clue the observer it might be a performance version.

429 Super Cobra Jet, 4.11 Detroit Locker, with a very rare auto trans! Ford claimed 370hp, dyno runs of similar engine packages on U-tube show 500+ hp at the wheels.

  4. My insurance agent looked up the VIN in a little book, and announced "20% excessive horsepower surcharge", after I told him I thought it had a v8 in it. (hadn't picked up the car yet) I worked hard not to fall out of the chair as I strangled a laughing fit.
