Short Sunderland taking off from the water, Egypt (1941/43)

  1. I wish that they were still making those (for use as fishing condos). You could (but don't have to) take off the machine guns, bombs and depth charges and they'd still be perfect, if only we could figure out how to amortize the maintenance costs to make them affordable.

    1. It's always the maintenance/insurance costs that drown you.

  2. There are still plenty of US built sea-planes molding away at various airports and storage lots. The price to re-engine, refurbish, and get flight certified is too much.

Probably do better getting one of the Kawasaki flying boats that the Japanese still use.
