And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I see hikers with a 9mm in the back country. laughable. we call them walking victims. A Ruger No. 1 in .338wm with iron sights is my minimum backcountry piece. In CO, a 9mm is only enough for something no bigger in size than a small child. this place has moose, and mountain lion. this time of year, lions are very un-picky about what or who they dine on. a little later in the spring, the bears will be waking up and looking for that first tasty morsel to quell that springtime hunger for hairless beach ape. they are very good at finding the lost backcountry skiers we call meat popsicles.
It's not just the caliber. It's the actual bullet. A heavy, penetrating slug, because hollow points will only piss him off.
ReplyDeleteWorld record (at the time) grizzly was killed with a .22 shot in the temple. By a woman. Old woman, IIRC.
