And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The green, purple, red and brown areas are State of Jefferson territory. Maybe the orange too.
The State of Jefferson (pre WW2) was a northern California & southern Oregon idea. I understand it's changed some over the years but I never heard of it going anywhere but N California.

Getting clear of the big cities has this far proved impossible. Democrats like owning their slaves and are ever loath to give them up.
