An excellent idea

West Virginia legislature invites Virginia 2A counties to join their state

I fully support this.  Let the progressive counties slowly degenerate into the hellholes the Democrat controlled big cites eventually and inevitably become.  Those that wish to preserve their rights and their wealth should separate themselves one way or another, if nothing else as a matter of self preservation.

  1. this is an attention getter to the people of Virginia that there are alternatives to confrontation with one's neighbors with whom they hold a dispute over personal freedoms and rights.

  2. I hadn't thought of it that way, but why not?

  3. I was born in West Virginia in 1960 though grew up from 1962 and still live in Florida. Used to go back every summer for time of Grandpa's farm, and still have friends there though I haven't been back for many years. It's an interesting political place now--much of it historical. I had ancestors on both sides of the civil war, though most on the south. Most were staunch Democrats--but conservative democrats. That's why Joe Mansion ( I know I spelled it wrong) votes as he does and can get elected despite party affiliation.) Anyway--the unique history of the state begs for something like this, even if it is only symbolic. I saw this first at Wirecutter's page and sent an email to several people--my mom included to verify. My mom can verify that I said this last week: with all the 2nd amendment issues in Virginia, I said the simple answer is for most of the western and north western counties to join West Virginia. Precedent is clearly there for splitting the state and re-alligning in time of crisis. This links to an article about West Virginia legislation proposed to allow counties in Virginia to join West Virginia. In the end, let Virginia be the population centers from DC south to Richmond. Maybe West Virginia should take the county that Norfolk is in. That would be a big boost to the economy of the state—to have deep sea access!! And a Navy Base!!"

  4. Yet another great "why not?" Idea. Unfortunately lefty will never cotton to this owing to the fact that a big draw for most of the leftists, is rubbing your enemies face in the proverbial crap. Many of them said so during the last administration. I was reading an article that contained a snippet of an online conversation and it had to do with the physical beating of Trumps supporters at his rallies. The individual who disagreed with lefty on FB specifically said so, offering the dividing up of America as a solution to much of the political violence. Then some oxygen thief who identified himself as being an employee from HUD in his response said something to the effect of, "No, you don't get an escape hatch, you don't get to leave, start your own country and live happily ever after. You stay right where you are and take what's coming to you. You live the rest of your existence knowing that we're in charge, we call all the shots and there's absolutely nothing you and those like you can do about it." I wish it were otherwise, but that's where we are. Hell, this sin't the only state considering this either. From what I've read in various places, California got the idea of splitting up the state into six others from New York. Apparently the rest of the state north of Westchester County has wanted out for a while and would like to be a separate state calling themselves "New Amsterdam". Again, NYC calls all the shots there apparently and it doesn't look like anything is going to happen anytime soon.
