If offered the opportunity, would you agree to do this?

  1. I can think of few greater gifts than to be taken into space.

  4. This is why there are space dogs, to give someone an excuse to space-walk.

  5. Untethered. Hundreds of feet from the Shuttle. Your own satellite a couple hundred miles above Earth. [Insert every possible way to say "Yes!" here.]

    BTW - I picked up a ball cap from Kennedy Space Center that has embroidered across the front my ultimate fantasy vacation -- "Hike the Moon."

  6. The experts say we need to depopulate the earth a bit. Let's just offer a free trip to space and watch em line up. Heh heh

    "I can't do that Dave."

  9. Absolutely yes, but only if I could pee on it from up there, and not inside the piddle pack in the suit. I mean like taking a whiz from Shanghai to St. Petersburg. (Knowing the technical difficulties, I'd settle for loading a giant Super Soaker before the EVA, and letting it fly vicariously.)

    "Look! It's the constellation Urion!"

    It's a Guy Thing.

  11. Oh yes!

    The stars, like dust, encircle me
    In living mists of light;
    And all of space I seem to see
    In one vast burst of sight

  12. Like the first time SCUBA diving, the first few moments would be a very odd sensation to be rapidly overcome by a sense of freedom never felt before....HELL YES I WOULD DO IT!!!!

  14. I suspect that this would require an unusual level of courage that the average person would lack. Brings to mind the responses I used to get when suggesting that various streetbike riders should look into getting some roadracing track experience. I never really understood their thinking. Gutsy enough to ride somewhat fast on the street, and loved to spectate at races, but couldn't fathom actually getting on the track, even to take a New Riders Class for club level racing. For me, racing was the most intense activity you could do while being dressed.

  15. If they told me on the morning just after the Challenger disaster, that I could go up the very next day if I wanted to, I would have said YES!

    I know I would be queasy with space sickness the entire time but still... Yes! Yes! a thousand times Yes!
