And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Had a hickory tree do this a hurricane in 2004. Pumping back and forth, towards and away from the house, towards stroke sucking in huge amounts of water, away stroke pistoning water and dirt out of the roots. Got Mr. Chainsaw and timed it to whack the sucker on the away-stroke. Nothing like lumberjacking in 90 mph winds to make you enjoy life!
