Corsair after a hard landing

  1. It makes me sad to see that bent Corsair. Cool aircraft, and if I owned it now, I'd treat it like a beloved child.

  4. As always, takeoffs are optional, landings are mandatory...

  5. VMA-323. The Death Rattlers. They racked up 124 Japanese planes shot down without a single loss. Twelve Death Rattlers became aces.

  6. Korea in the 1950's. That is actually a different aircraft than the one that fought the Japanese only five years earlier. The kept the wing shape and airframe, and changed everything else to "optimize the aircraft for the ground attack role" It basically did the same job as the AD-1. CAS. The one above is shorter, has a different powerplant , prop, and for the late models, a 20MM cannon instead of six .50BMG's---Ray

    1. Thanks, Ray. I just know that I like watching "Black Sheep Squadron" to see the Corsairs and such. I can't tell the difference between the various versions without a scorecard..........
