Old time transportation.

  1. Today's suburban college-educated, soccer mom who campaigns part time to save the planet and coexist with the poor migrants, needs a $60,000 capped, WiFi enabled heated-seat extended-cab 7-liter GMC Sierra to do her Mall runs. We've come a long way baby!

  2. Back when a half-ton truck actually meant a half-ton!

Course you'd top out at 62 mph on the highway, downhill with a tailwind.

    1. You ever try Jewish overdrive on the way down that hill Donald. That would have added another 15 mph fer sure and upped the gas mileage as well.

  3. I would have bought that, but at least a 6cyl. I want to go faster then 62mph downhill with a tailwind... I beat myself every day getting rid of my 68 Chevy Step-side C10 with a stovebolt 6cyl and three on the tree.

  4. Used to call them "Cornbinders"....when I graduated I went to work as an electrician's apprentice in 1968....they had one or two of them, one with tool bins on the back....BTW, my pay was the then minimum wage of $1.60 hr.....12.80 a day....my kids said they wouldn't wake up in the morning for 12.80 a day....the good old days.....upside was gas at .26 a gal, groceries 15 bucks for a week's worth for two people, etc.

  5. The engine was interesting. 4 cyl which was built on a V8 block using only one side. My granddaddy had a Scout with that engine. I think it was like 152 CI.

    1. I had one. a Scout 800 - it was a 196 c.i., torquey and utterly bulletproof. I also had one of these pickups for a while, '67 3/4t 4WD. Also bulletproof, but it would rattle your fillings out on washboard roads. It seemed like that bench seat was 7 ft across, I swear.....

  7. My dad had an IH truck back in the early 70's. It was a real man's truck. Power nothing. It had a knob on the steering wheel to assist in turning. It was a 4wd with a granny gear 4-speed and a strait 6 under the hood. He got rid of it during the oil crisis in the 70's because it got 11mpg. I would love to have it now...
