And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
When I was a teenager, I was sitting in the stands watching Texas Tech lose to someone in the old South West Conference. Two old guys were next to me, and they were hilariously commenting on the plays, and lineage of the coaches. Nothing was off limits and they were gut bustingly funny. Some guy a row or two in front stands up and turns to leave, and, crash!! broken bottle, and a strange odor floats on the breeze as he hot foots it out of there....
One of the old guys says really loud, "That must be Old Crow, I can smell his feathers burning!!" I about fell out laughing. Best football game I've ever been to.
